During the months of June and July, 2014, I participated in the Centre for Opera Studies in Italy summer program. Every year, this one-month intensive training program for young opera singers presents two shows, and this year they were Puccini’s La bohème and L’incoronazione di Poppea by Monteverdi. I was cast as Rodolfo in La bohème.
The experience was incredible, and I had a great time putting the show together. Directed by James Marvel and conducted by Les Dala, the shows were filled with laughter, tears, and sublimely beautiful music. It was a treat to perform my very first Rodolfo with such wonderful colleagues, in an outdoor courtyard in the middle of Italy.
